Johns book changed my life. Long before I even heard of Bitcoin. I enjoyed this very much.🍻

I read it in college and was profoundly changed by it. It's so out in the open for so many decades. I remember being angry for weeks because I was too young to process such tremendous evil.

What's the book called?

Confessions of an Economic Hitman

Ooooh I see. I didn't read the book but had a friend who did and told me about it.

Yeah read it years ago whilst working on oil rigs in Africa! hmmm. There's a base for a particular US oil major there that was over-run during the civil war. 4000 people got moved offshore and there was a US destroyer there to pick them up withing a few hours. Funny really, why would a destroyer be sitting off big oil fields right?

Because that's what backs the dollar (I know you know) but I had to say it.

Working in the oilfield and making the conscious decision to "sacrifice" steady work in order to experience working all over the damned place really opened eyes for me and it's an excellent way to internalise the lessons of books like that. It isn't just the US either, it's power projection rather than economic collaboration

100%, Im going to try to encourage my son to become a welder or other skilled tradesman so he can travel and find work. I hope to God I can keep him out of college.

Sounds like a good choice to me. It's probably got more longevity as a learned skill than any college degree right now

My mind boggles to try to anticipate what the world will be like in 10-15 years.

That's why BTC right, one thing that does tick-tock rather than curve balls in hurricane!
