And no one tries to price gouge you at home
Did it for decades. Happy to pay someone else to do it now. If you need that to feel like a man, then I’m sorry for your wife.
I find value in not worrying about the vehicle my wife drives bc I know the owner did it to the owner's standards instead of trusting a low-wage stranger who has a financial incentive to rush, cut corners, introduce new problems, and attempt to price gouge. For 30 mins of my time, I'd call that a bargain.

Imagine wasting your money paying someone to do something you should be able to do yourself
And nah, waiting around for a mechanic to do it isn't going to save time.
