I used to do all my own repairs until the time saved from paying someone else to do it became more valuable to me than what they charge to do it.

That’s the best part of driving an EV. It just needs tires, cabin air filters and wiper blades. That’s it.
A long time ago I took my car in for an oil change, the service advisor came out with a worried, sad look and showed me my air filter and said it really needed to be replaced. It wasn't very dirty, but did have a bunch of bugs caught in it. I wacked it against my bumper a couple of times to knock out the bugs and handed it back to him saying, "It's fine. Put it back."
He was standing there in shock. I think he thought a young girl was an easy mark for an upsell.

I find value in not worrying about the vehicle my wife drives bc I know the owner did it to the owner's standards instead of trusting a low-wage stranger who has a financial incentive to rush, cut corners, introduce new problems, and attempt to price gouge. For 30 mins of my time, I'd call that a bargain.

once you add car depreciation + ridiculous insurance premiums + maintenance + fuel I think I'd be pretty close to break even vs being chauffeured around.
