My guess is its probably going to be like that for a bit. There's like 15,000 active users. If you aren't into Bitcoin, or you aren't excited about the tech behind Nostr, why come here. Bluesky offers you a place to go if you don't like Twitter under Musk, and if things were bad for you under the old Twitter regime, Musk's twitter is a much better place for you now.

At this point I just want people to cross-post in anticipation of the day that things on Twitter turn again.

bluesky recently made some thing where you can hide your stuff from others and that brought a flock of like 1M users apparently

we could have that in nostr too, if relay operators wanted

i think that this idea that relays are dumb needs to end

relays need to be quite a lot smarter, then they can do things like not send events to users who are muted by the author of the event, that would bring in a lot of people i think, if bluesky's experience matters

and bandwidth and sanity - relays should not send you events at all from users that you have muted... i'm about to add this feature to my relay

There's some basic things that Nostr needs that would help it be competitive with the others (excluding content, thats another discussion) - edit and delete. Universally edit and delete need to be supported. I know it will never be 100℅ with the way relays work, but every client should make a good faith stab at it. Amethyst does it, the others should too.

Do I need KYC (mobile app required, selfie upload, government ID) on bluesky? It seems like all big-tech things are requiring KYC now.

I can't remember what I gave it when I got the invite code. I think maybe an email, if that. That might have changed for new users, I dunno. I'm definitely not praising Bluesky. It just has the momentum now and I want Nostr to have it

Centralization does have some "benefits" I suppose.
