Totally. When you look up "dead internet", Nostr is the top example.
In all seriousness it's become an echo chamber for some. Not a lot of engaging content. Lots of Bots. The old momentum is dying (the big conferences). Relay/client software/servers haven't received meaningful updates. And it's a huge money pit for the people who are actually running relays and developing.
Fair - although I've heard running a relay isn't crazy expensive (?) ... but yeah, the devs working full time on innovating that is a massive concern. It surely can't go on forever unfunded π¬
I can't even imagine how much it's costing to store every picture and video that gets posted here by a torrent of bots. I believe Will said once it cost him like $600/mo to run a relay between the bandwidth and stuff.
