You are so vehemently in support of continuing the use of likes because you are addicted to the false sense of worth and affirmation they give you. Stop using them or looking at them in your app and see how anxious you become, and you will see what I mean.

If I get 15 likes on a post but no zaps, I kinda feel like I didn’t do anything

I have an 8K+ following on Instagram for my work and music. Years ago I stopped looking at the like count and disregard it completely as it’s a trash metric and mostly virtue signaling for people. It’s all about the conversation. Not about the praise some give, it’s the intelligent and inquisitive comments that get me excited and interested. The true connective tissue buried underneath the oppression of most people’s dopamine deficiencies.

Yes well said 🙌 Now keep all of that and add to it zaps. Nostr is like no other platform 🔥🚀

People still liking this post though 😅

Not surprised lol

I am new in nostr and still learning but I get what you're saying, however what I have seen these first days on here is that likes don’t work the same way as on traditional platforms. There’s no algorithm boosting engagement or monetization tied to them, so their impact may be different. If someone values them (I was using them so far), it’s probably more about quick interaction than seeking validation, but again, I am new and still learning, just trying to add a beginer pov.

It is habitual, as any addictive behavior is. Stop using them or checking for them for 30 days and then see what you think.

Besides it is just a blatant copy of #Facebook ..just the way "follow follower " model is a copy of #Twitter ..

Not saying copy is somehow bad but it is well known these mechanisms lead to perversion..

#nostr has better - #zaps .

I've become well adjusted to being shadow banned/ ignored on all other socials that getting a like is almost always ignored (usually a pornbot). Now if I go viral and notifications come flooding, well that's different, but I can count on two fingers when that's happened. I value comments that continue the conversation much more and that's usually how I participate.

no.
