Another interesting point is that blocks are under-utilized nowadays. According to Michel Khazzaka’s research last year, Bitcoin could increase its utility by 4x without consuming any more energy.

Can’t say that about the other items here, except maybe for some data centers.

Counting Bitcoin energy use per TX or block is low level stuff.

If you're trying to figure out per Capita energy usage then you have to make an assumption on number of users said energy use is protecting.

Let's say we stand at 100m btc users;

That's close to the population of Russia;

Larger than Argentina & Switzerland;

So it's safe to assume that we are using LESS energy than what would be expected, to protect the economic activity of 100m (&growing) users.

Filling blocks or not doesn't make anything more or less efficient, it's a fallacy.

That’s a good way of looking at it.
