Nostr Web Client

I just signed up for the Alby Hub, their cloud-paid version, not the self-hosted. I’ve been mostly absent from all social media, slowly working my way out of centralized bubbles.

I’ve always had the philosophy that if you're open-source AND give your product for free, so others can self-host or do whatever they want, AND you offer a version that makes my life simpler and allows me to support your business, but it gives me the freedom to do the same on my terms whenever I decide to, then it’s a no-brainer.

I love seeing Alby go self-custodial and allowing this community and this tech to grow, especially for non-tech people like me.

Right after subscribing, they wrote to my alby acct email to check on the process, and with no need to really offer help or answer questions he did.

I really hope to be able to self-host at some point. Then I will find other ways to support them.

I also love seeing Primal going with a premium model, this is the way.

I really consider this very much, the client is awesome. The only reason I decided to go with Alby for my nostr lighting related wallet, NIP 5, etc, is that alby is a full suit of options that help me connect with so many nostr related things. I was already a user of their free shared wallet and extension service and it was my intro to NOSTR.

I know it's not an apples-to-apples comparison(I am not even trying to compare, just very glad to see these two examples), but the message is this, if you like some of the awesome platforms being built, GO AND SUPPORT some of them, or as many as you can. Hope many people star building succesful business models., open business models, yet still competitives.

I am glad to come here after some months and see these models flourishing.

At the end, it feels just nice to know that if I ever do not like any of these clients I can move to another and pay (if needed) for whatever perks they may have on that specific client. But I bring my keys and my work with me.
