The elephant in the room with decentralized social / messaging is that nobody will ever use a web app. A web app will *never* gain significant adoption.
Better to have a severely limited and ugly native mobile app than to have an incredibly polished and robust web app.
Even if web apps had a chance, the requirement of a browser extension before you can do anything guarantees its failure
How about someone super high quality and beautiful native apps instead?!
Accepting App Store policies and building them into the business model from day one is important. An app getting angry at Apple is like that M. Bison "For me, it was Tuesday" meme.
