when it comes to on-boarding, one of the largest hurdles on many nostr applications unfortunately surrounds one of the protocol's most innovative features - zaps. it should not be this difficult to setup zaps to participate in the value for value economy, but it is! we have two solutions to make this experience easier, thus far:

1) clients using built-in wallets such as Primal (or Current, but i think this client is now defunct?).

2) clients using built-in cashu wallets or nutzaps such as Iris or Olas.

an upcoming update to Olas will enable both of these. this functionality targets both types of new users.

1) new users that joined Primal for an easy zapping experience.

2) new users that joined Olas as their first point of entry into nostr.

now, the on-boarding experience will include easy zaps via a one-tap connection to your existing Primal wallet or a one-tap action to create a brand new nutzap wallet in Olas. on-boarding with zaps is about to get incredibly easier.

That's why I was working on a way to recommend clients and sign up for Nostr based on a users skill level and tech skills.

i still think this would be helpful

Thanks, needs more fixing up, I'm also gonna probably add a way of getting a ln address and Nip05s through a variety of options the user can choose from.

nostrplebs.com has an API if you want to implement that :) we can figure out a proper split for referrals too.

That would be cool, then users could do it all in the same app, though I'd want to have multiple options as I want to keep it open and non commercialized or biased as possible

sure

Make sure to include nostr:npub1st430quxxz5wwuclmc9yhmlh9d2sjccy7208aflyffe3649c3kwq9jv0jm — easiest/fastest way I’ve found to get started with Lightning so far.

Yakihonne is another with a good built in wallet if users want that option.

fuuuuuck. i completely forogot about yakihonne when i wrote this as i was sporting a chub after seeing the new olas and primal features. you are absolutely right. ive even recommended and talked about yakihonne's built in NWC wallet. no-KYC. created during on-boarding. it's actually done very nicely.

Forgivable 🤣 They also just rolled out an update that lets you customize your wallet address. You cant edit an existing wallet but you can create a new one with a custom address.

nice. i saw a new upate came out recently but didn't read the change log. that's awesome. thanks!

Unpopular opinion, building a feed is more important and more difficult than setting up zaps for new nostriches.

ill say medium. it's not more difficult. it's more time consuming. you're not going to build a feed overnight or immediately.

Been playing around with some custom feeds in primal that I think would be better starting points for new people rather than just saying "follow everyone I follow" or like hang out in the dumpster fire that is the global feed...

Agree.

Correct.

This would be another cool idea to add to more clients, primal is doing it already, but it is to allow users to select interests then follow people with those same interests.

💯 I had to build my own client to get the feed I want

all clients should fallback to NIP-60 wallets if the user doesn't have a LN address

if done properly in the UI, this UX could actually be optimal. default is NIP-60, unless a user specifically adds their own configuration. this question could even be asked during on-boarding.

I ONLY SUGGEST OPTIMAL IDEAS, DEREK

big if true.

Great idea, I was onboarded last week and got stuck paying to open my first channel on Albyhub, so I can't send or receive zaps. I don't own bitcoin yet but I managed to create a wallet on Primal which was much easier. 😁

I should add NWC support to the nostr:nprofile1qqs2xugc5jyguqkj36rk0syv4tmnkjdtmtperttl7x9rqjy3ustdcvcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qg6waehxw309aek2mnyd96zumn0wdnxcctjv5hxxmmd9uxa0uz8 wallet for merchants to sell and zap directly from their earnings seamlessly...

Sales volume isn't there *yet*, but it would be cool for purely native circular economics as things get more usable and adoption increases.

I think that's a smart and logical next move to build a circular economy.
