fuckin a. Got a ton of extra mason jars, but not enough lids. Story of my fucking life

lol Ain't that the truth. Give me muh lids!

I try to grab a couple boxes of lids a few times a year to offset that. I hate chasing them down. Have you seen the tattler lids or used them? I never have but want to

Same. I've heard of and researched them but havent used them, yet.

Last time I checked they were out of stock and I forgot about them since. I need to look and see if I can find some and give it a whirl

It's that time of year. Which reminds me, I need to get to the butcher and pick up suet, come next month everyone will be using it to process game and then it will be hard to get for making tallow.

I just made another batch of beef tallow. I need to run it again to get more moisture out though

Speaking of canning, do y'all have any good beef stew recipes?

I don't. I just use canned meat, potatoes and carrots and mix them together. Add some onion and mushrooms and spice.

I need lids too

Always!

never heard this one before but i will never forget it either, so obvious

Ya, and use that water when you want to boil things then refill. Saves some time and energy to boil from room temp.

Damn good idea.

I read it in book years ago about emergency preparedness. Not my idea. It just talked about ways of using emergency supplies to keep fresh.

I'm really into Mason jars lately and this is a great idea! I can keep a small number of jars dry for when I need a dry one, but otherwise keeping them full of water is brilliant, even if we don't like tap it's better than nothing in an emergency situation.
