Again, let’s assume someone is in my shoes…Someone might be asking what does it take to get a whale zap? What’s the criteria? Is it really arbitrary? If so, no one on all of Nostr has found value in my words worthy of a whale zap.

If y’all don’t like me, that’s cool. If I can’t sit with the cool kids, cool. If yall don’t see value in me, then why stay here? It doesn’t feel fair.

Please don’t leave me here with all these weirdos 😂

😅 they like to say “keep nostr weird”! I’m jokingly like.. who wants to sit with a bunch of weirdos? I’ve said before I honestly am starting to seriously believe they want it like this. Weird. Small. Bitcoin based. A few exceptions can come. But that’s it. There are some I refer to as the Nostr police that bully people off Nostr. I see them with their multiple accounts. I just don’t say anything. It’s wild.

Yeaaa i sometimes feel like bitcoiners are preventing mass adoption lol until non weirdos like you and me start spinning up our own relays for our communities it’s gonna be like this.

Bitcoiners just happen to be the early adopters but the protocol itself isn’t blockchain based or anything like that and there are lots of apps that don’t implement the zap feature.

Nostr is like participatory social media; you have to build your feed and tools.

Enjoy your stay. Wish you the best. 👍

Don’t confuse recognition for your actions with the actions themselves.

The percentage of nostriches who can afford large zaps is likely small. The likelihood of someone who can do so, happening to find and follow you, and then actually be on Nostr at the right time to see you better content, is likely smaller still.

Also, don’t conflate people zapping you with people liking you. We’re all hanging out here together, enjoying each others’ company, and exchanging *micropayments* as representations of appreciation and derived value.

If you were to calculate the amount of work hours that someone needs to trade for the value of a “whale zap”, then consider the level of quality that must be required of a social media post in order for someone to choose to part with that money.

I appreciate that your question is more philosophical than literal ✌️

I’m glad you understand the philosophical questions. 👍 With that said, I was told that it’s value4value over here. And zaps prove it. Furthermore, I’ve seen multiple whale zaps on an initial post. How would one explain that?

As a woman of color I think you’re entitled to a whale zap. The fact that you haven’t received one serves in my eyes as incontrovertible evidence that the entire Nostr ecosystem has been contaminated since its inception by not only systemic racism but also by patriarchal rape culture.
