My kiddo, 11, cannot stop coding (JavaScript for Minecraft) on his pc. If I donโ€™t force him to stop he could keep doing over 12 hrs ๐ŸคฏTroubling for me as a parent but should i let him?? He is unable to stop what heโ€™s doing! Now heโ€™s skills are amazing butโ€ฆ

Yes.

Enforce some exercise but coding is the future

The real problem is lack of sunlight and fresh air. Tell him to take his laptop outside ๐Ÿ˜‚

Great idea! (Although my kid immediately says no ๐Ÿ˜…)

Get him a solar powered laptop, heโ€™ll have no choice ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Let him maintain the skill, but like anything, he needs breaks and to get outside.

I agree! Sun โ˜€๏ธ is so important! I still drag him outside๐Ÿ˜„ (sometimes this takes up a few hours of my day just to get him out the door, tho ๐Ÿ˜‚)

He uses gpt/co-pilots?

Yes he does. And some other kids added ChatGPT api to the server, according to my son.

Let him be and support him to the fullest!

He is a genius.

Actually, once I got into the zone, I can keep coding for 3 days through literally unstoppable. Focus is a gift, and not for everybody๐ŸŽ

My son is definitely on the extreme side!! 3 days is ๐Ÿคฏ hope you donโ€™t forget to eat!

I wish he also enjoys outdoor a bit. I will still make him go outside to get some fresh air at least once or twice a day.

I do understand your feelings but introvert is introvert no matter how he/she/they get, and so am I ๐Ÿคค< I'm 36.

Communication skills can be acquired, though, his gifted talent must be innate.

Maybe, letting him participate in hackathon or something to go outside is a good idea?๐Ÿ™ƒ
