Tails doesn't work with Apple silicone though, only Intel. no?

That's right. But its a great excuse to get some dedicated hardware for the online interaction with your Bitcoin. Remember plan as though your stack is 10x what it is right now.

i just use a dedicated linux laptop for bitcoin now

I run it as well, just start the standalone from the terminal pointing it at the persistent storage. They work so well together connecting to nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll that I feel like it would be a huge win for ease of use to integrate them. Like the philosophy that nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll has about making things accessible to the average person.

Sparrow in Debian will be hard because it uses Gradle for its build and getting a DFSG-compatible build of Gradle is very difficult.

FreeBSD has a set of build scripts for a read only minimal system dubbed nanoBSD. It’s used by some projects AFAIK. It could be adjusted to build a cmdline not-tails with Sparrow terminal.

That's be nice. Bitcoin has not found a Debian maintainer for over a dozen years now, which is a shame because so much is downstream from Debjan.

There is already a tool that allows you to remaster TailsOS and install Sparrow Wallet among others:
