Just got back from #Bitdevs Boston and hit up a bar with a couple folks I met tonight.

We talked about Core vs Knots. We didn't agree. Strangely enough, we talked about how things work and why we see things the way we do and didn't even throw anything at each other. Heck, we even agreed we'd look forward to seeing each other again sometime soon.

I also think we all learned at least one thing that somehow, despite all of the warring over the past 9 months, we didn't know before.

Nice reminder that you don't need to agree with people to converse, exchange value, and enrich both your life and theirs.

Absolutely. Especially if it can get the node design temperature down a bit, but either way. Also...totally didn't realize it was you I was listening to on The Bitcoin Layer as I literally was driving to the event you were helping to put on. This is what I get for doing most everything audio only. I'll take signal where I can find it. Besides, when you're on the 40 hours of bitcoin podcast a week schedule, and the interview guests do a bunch of podcasts in a row, there's always plenty of stacking.

I haven't counted but it's pretty darn close. Not quite ALL bitcoin; some of it is keeping on top of broader macro news and geopolitics, but at 2x speed...yea I have to at least be hitting 40 hours worth of content.

Truth be told though I'd probably be better to listen less and read more. It is a handy way to utilize time spent doing other chores though.

My wife is less impressed when she tries suddenly talking to me and always gets a 'please hold' while I pause. Or when I have something of interest to discuss and remember it's only of interest TO ME...

Luckily I've go enough different outlets for comments these days to serve as 'ventilation.'

My queue right now has 15 hours in it, just for the weekend. Probably slightly abover average, but the worldls markets did sort of melt yesterday afternoon. Probably gonna have the extra time as I agreed to drive my kid all over creation for hockey today -- if that doesn't cut it the dogs may get a longer walk or two.

I got a few episodes in. I like the audio drama approach -- the world always needs more of these. Still on the fence about the 15 min length. You're probably smart for doing it this way in 2025, though there is that part of me that longs for the old radio dramas I listened to growing up with my grandmother which you could just get lost in, and the interruptions are a little jarring. Not sure how to juggle 21st century attention spans with my preferences there though -- and I assume it's NOT people who've taken steps to extend their time preferences already that you're really targeting with this.

I'll share it around with some normies and see what sort of feedback I can get there.

You’re 100% on the balance between attention spans (particularly for pre coiners etc). We’re hoping it pulls people down the rabbit hole.

Essentially I made this for everyone that I’ve given a copy of the Bitcoin Standard who never read it

Season 2 the episode are about 20min and a bit more in depth.

There's also a few places I roll my eyes but I sort of have to suspend my disbelief. The premise that everything is being super paranoid, but at the same time, not insisting on spinning up their own node, for instance. Or putting the key into a computer without specifying an airgap.

Thinking about how that'd flow as an audiodrama though, I can't blame y'all for the choices made. I don't envy the task of trying to make this accessible for normies but also comprehensive enough to cover the necessities.

Yeah - and there's a balance between the characters that are normies that don't know any better and are stumbling through a crash course in a high stakes time.

That said we're not perfect, so open to any feedback too. In prior versions we had even more bitcoin oriented talk, but a lot of the nocoiners we had as Beta listeners were not into it. (no surprise there lol). So we took a lets sprinkle things in vs bludgeon them. (And ultimately point them to greater resources than ourselves like BTC Sessions etc)
