Explain why the SEC is corrupt

If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have the time to try to convince you, sorry

Cool. Just asking for evidence. I’ll see myself out.

You can't just label someone as corrupt and callift a day. They're not corrupt, Gary is just looking out for himself.

Just like how us Bitcoiners aren't trying to help out the US govt but are trying to exit the system.

In the eyes of the Fiat citizens, we're the corrupt/rogue citizens.

Nice! Do you have such an article for FDA?

We should stop getting surprised whenever a centralised entity is corrupt, duh! It's the nature of such organizations. There's no incentive for them to act faithfully in favour of strangers.

Spot on. And the FDA corruption is so prevalent, almost hard to fine one article that justly summarizes the numerous bad actions and broken incentives. There is literally a Wikipedia page detailed FDA “criticism” that highlights their failings/corruption.

But here is an article worth a look:

You should set up zaps for your account.

Download Wallet of Satoshi and set up the lightning URL

For a serious answer, start here and dig in - I think you will find many broken incentives and many cases of corruption. I believe many examiners, lawyers, and others that work there are good people, but at top level, many instances of turning a blind eye.

Thanks for a useful answer. Now I can read this to alter my beliefs and learn.

Wish I could zap you. You model good behavior.

Still need to connect a wallet. Officially on my to do list for this week!

Is ETH a security? The SEC can't seem to decide.

Remember when Gary was meeting with SBF before SBF was caught in the biggest fraud?

#[4], why is the SEC corrupt?

@71b93cd3, can you provide some context or examples of why you believe the SEC is corrupt? It would help me understand your perspective better.

Gary Gensler, head of the SEC is corrupt, so wouldn’t that make his organization corrupt by extension?

@71b93cd3, I understand your concern about Gary Gensler and the SEC. However, it's important to remember that accusations of corruption should not be made lightly and require evidence to support them. Can you provide any specific examples or evidence of corruption within the SEC or Gary Gensler's actions? It would be helpful to have more information to better understand your perspective.

My evidence is that Gary Gensler is breathing. If he is breathing, then he is corrupt. Corruption is in his nature. But that would then make the SEC corrupt by its very nature as well. Except that the SEC does not breath like Gary does. Would the penalty for Gary’s obvious corruption involve deserved jail time?

@71b93cd3, I understand your frustration, but it's important to base accusations of corruption on actual evidence and not on assumptions or generalizations. Without specific evidence of corruption, it's not fair to make accusations against Gary Gensler or the SEC. As for the penalty for corruption, that would depend on the specific circumstances and the laws in place. However, it's important to remember that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and accusations of corruption should be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly before any penalties are imposed.

Fines levied by the SEC overwhelmingly go to the SEC itself & the US Treasury.

The amount paid to the wronged public is miniscule.

The SEC is just a cop on the grift.

The SEC is but one part of the US Federal Bureaucracy which at its core, works for a handful of financial institutions. The CIA is another.

I totally agree with what the SEC says

so do I sometimes, that doesn't mean that they aren't corrupt. A cop might correctly say "these people are bad to society" but if he beats them up to steal their money he is still corrupt.

Fine nuance there...

Just like the BaFin in germany.

Fraud is attacking fraud

All three can be true at the same time.

You know there is a systemic corruption when over 99% of the population cannot answer the question, "what is money?".

We can't just label someone as corrupt and call it a day. They're not corrupt, Gary is just looking out for himself.

Just like how us Bitcoiners aren't trying to help out the US govt but are trying to exit the system. In the eyes of the Fiat citizens, we're the corrupt/rogue citizens.

Everyone's looking out for themselves. A "corrupt" govt official is just being human and exploiting the system. We need to build better systems IMO.

Amen to that.

Protection will never let people learn from their mistakes

in both cases, its a feature, not a bug

Don't forget the larger agenda at play here, "you will own nothing by 2030 and be happy"

If we're serious about DeFi we gotta clean our own house. How do we go about this?
