Wasn’t it Southwest that famously grew by hedging fuel and scooping up all the best routes whenever oil price was high?
Pretty good synopsis Stu :) they actually focused on markets with demand and made them part of a point to point travel network which equals less routes and less aircrafts and they focused on fun, low price, and reliable travel. Strategy worked extremely well up until recently apparently -senate hearings. Their original CEO Herb Kelleher is quite a fascinating man with a very interesting approach too.
