Yes but the context is different.

Une statue en bois = a statue made of wood as in the statue is actual wood, if you say du vin en graphite then it would literally mean graphite wine. Alors que du faire vin avec du graphite on comprend que tu as utilisé le graphite pour faire (dans ce cas précis dessiner) le vin
