Man I hate when people shit on LNURL to promote Bolt12. Where is Bolt12? What do you guys want us to do? Everyone should stop using Lightning and wait a few years until everyone has Bolt12 (aka LNURL+Tor)?

Just use what you have. Stop larping. Write code or stfu.

Perfect is the enemy of the good. People will gravitate towards “good enough” rather than waiting for the perfect solution

My favourite saying is:

Done is better than perfect.

“Write code or stfu”

This is a completely reasonable line of thinking. It’s been almost three years since bolt12 pr was created. Perhaps some self-reflection from protocol devs on why it hasn’t shipped is needed.

For the record, I appreciate all lightning devs for what they do.

Maybe because it has a ton of independent features instead of being incremental upgrades with consensus for each step.

I really need to figure out what a Bolt is

Yeah, that's been annoying. There's been a few big steps in the right direction too, but even those solutions are being criticized for not being 100% trustless. Which isn't helpful and just gonna keep more people on Wallet of Satoshi.

I already use LNURL over TOR with blue wallet 🧠

Matt was the main shitter on lnurl and he is writing code and is making bolt12 happened, i feel triggered by your post. I should probably just ignored it. Feels like a twitter engagement phishing. Haha now off to happy town 😄

Should a spec generate consensus or should existing consensus become the spec?

This.

Larping is easy, writing code and building things requires effort.

My understanding is that “the code” for BOLT12 has already been written.

The true problem is that @lightninglabs is obstinately blocking all merge requests in favour of other projects (like TARO) that they want to implement and monetize.

The Lightning ecosystem is unhealthy dependent on LND, which is weird because we have one other working Lighting implementation, namely Core Lighting.

The whole ecosystem is held hostage by LND and their >80% marketshare. If they had like 25% and there were more players, then sure, we would already have BOLT12 today.

I’m aware that next to Core Lightning and LND there are two other Lightning implementations: Éclair from ACINQ, and LDK from Square Crypto, but their market share is very small.

Wdym? Bolt12 development is underway and there's an open PR tracking progress. Last public meeting talked about this. It'll just be a daemon that sits on top of lnd.

Do you have a link to tha PR tracker? I would like to follow that 😊
