Ima sucker take my sats.
I give them the benefit of the doubt. There will be scammers for sure. But some will be genuine and for those new users I’m willing to part with my $0.005 to zap them and make them feel welcomed.
I’d rather discourage scamming than encourage it 😂
Yea, I learned my lesson zapping people begging for rent money and other sob stories. But I’m willing to part with half a penny to show someone the power of nostr. Hopefully that’s not enough to encourage a significant amount of scammers.
So, my take is that when they get a few zaps and reposts from established accounts, it encourage others to give even more zaps and reposts, because “hey look, everyone else is doing it so it must be legit.” Meanwhile they don’t engage back with replies, they don’t follow anyone back. It could be an easy couple of bucks worth of sats by the time their post loses steam. Wash, rinse, repeat with the next accounts. They’re not gonna make a living that way, but it’s a waste of everyone’s time and sats and sends the wrong message.
It can’t be that profitable because nostr:npub12262qa4uhw7u8gdwlgmntqtv7aye8vdcmvszkqwgs0zchel6mz7s6cgrkj would have automated the process by now
