You are so true. I thought the same thing when I was there. Lot of locals and tourists still doesnโ€˜t know Bitcoin nor they use it. Still early.

Are there any down-to-earth practical reasons to use Bitcoin over there? Like a 10% discount, no tourist tax, certain places don't accept anything else? Or do the reasons pretty much all fall into the abstract domain (you're contributing to a worldwide effort to...)

I didn't have cash, so it was really useful to use bitcoin. Later on I got some cash (in exchange for bitcoin), but then you end up with a bunch of heavy annoying coins, so I was happy to get rid of those and pay just with bitcoin again.

In Costa Rica they have fiat bills that have nice colorful pictures of animals, so that's one thing you are missing with bitcoin.
