I think for a decentralized knowledge base to take off we need to have more emphasis on relays, where different relays have their own criteria for who and what gets posted. However, even if you dont have permission to write to a relay, you can still be heard by making comments on the relays you're allowed to post to, pointing to the original content. Happy to explain more about its design

Reputation addresses the issue of cost without involving money.
I believe that without a Decentralized Web of Trust Reputation (DWoTR) system, an open decentralized social media or wiki platform will never achieve critical mass.
Until DWoTR is implemented, a decentralized wiki remains a futile endeavor.
Yes, but the content of the wiki needs to be filtered by the web of trust uniquely for each client. Reputation is local not global.
Exactly, reputation and trust are subjective. Therefore, the Nostr platform is ideal, as each client manages its own filtering. The relay server merely provides the information without interference.

We could hard fork Wikipedia. Have a bot scrape all of Wikipedia and start Wikistr from there.
Love the idea but how would that fix the issue of bad / politically motivated agents making updates? Is it because the edits are tied to an identity?

I guess the Wikipedia content can be used as starters.. some web crawling. Issue is how do you mediate? or if you dont how do you deal with someone with more clout than you simply claiming false stuff about you? it is a difficult problem.
