Harvested our own katahdin sheep this month! Got 30 pounds of ground from 2 sheep, and it tastes amazing!

Looking forward to eating the leg of lamb and the lamb steaks!

You're making me hungry.

I'm going to get some hair sheep. It'll probably be next year.

I've got a lot of fencing to put in first.

Haha that's wise! Definitely gonna be better having the fencing done before the animals arrive! Always a good policy!

For sure

What type of grinder do you use?

We just bought a local used one, it's a weston

Would you recommend it?

If you're only gonna do a couple deer or sheep or something per year it would be fine. We will probably get a better one though eventually as we scale up our sheep

Thanks. I have a KitchenAid grinder attachment. Only done one deer and it did the job with some massaging.

Yeah that will get ya by if ya don't have much to do!

Yum. Time to make some gyro meat. We're still going through a lamb we butchered last year and the lamb beef gyro has been a hit with our kiddos.

Always good when the kids like it!

Did you do all grind meat or some other cuts as well? Planning on harvesting one this fall

Actually did some steaks and ribs and shanks and 1 big leg of lamb. Kinda experimenting and seeing what we like. It was our first one

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to taste homegrown lamb.
