The sacrifices will be numerous for this lesson. I worry about some people I don't know but have immense respect for.

I think you *almost* got it -- I believe that the criminal organizations called "governments" and its multiple cronies, like the criminal bands called "banks", won't implement black lists of those BTC holders that they are able to identify, but white lists of the ones they authorize.
They won't need to investigate everybody. Whoever wants to use BTC anywhere near their system will have to voluntarily out himself, doing the dirty work for them himself. Just as they already do with fiat. You're guilty until you prove that you're not. Your UTXOs will be dirty and unusable until you give them the whole history, they take their cut, and you deposit them with a custodian.
I hope we are early enough to figure out ways around that.
That makes a lot of sense and wasn't even the terrible thing I was thinking about and now I have more terrible things to think about. For the future!!
I always say that we have unleashed an unstoppable evil upon the world with the modern State. There is little we can do to reform it or to avoid its catastrophic collapse. The focus cannot be "destroying the system", that's not feasible and it's destroying itself anyway.
So focusing on creating a sliver of free space just outside of the system where we can partially at least take refuge is the most positive and productive use of our time and efforts.
Prevention being impossible, let's prepare for mitigation.
Good to hear. I don't worry about them much either but it's wise to always keep in mind that a home invasion or mugging could easily pose as a type of fasle flag incident to frighten people from owning bitcoin. As for people like Keiser and Saylor, they could already be working for the fed; accumulating bitcoin on their behalf🤷♂️. Also, as long as you safely self-custody your sats your UTXOs are worthless.
