Be careful to close one Nostr client before you open another of the same nsec. There is a race condition that can commonly wipe your following list. Now I need to refolllow everyone again for the third time this month.
Discussion
I think that should only happen if you update your profile in one client while having two open, right?
I thought so, I thought I was avoiding that, but there are lots of different things that change what's stored in the raw data of your profile.
Nice to get some more info on why this has been happening.
Looks like poor design of the protocol tbh. When I follow someone, it signs the full list of everyone I am following, rather than having one "event" per follow...
thanks for the tip!
nostrgram.co has a tool to restore them
Definitely sucks
It seems a few people are running into this issue.
Happened to me this morning!

🤣😂 I was wondering, what happened?
Main issue is that clients are signing and publishing events without users consent or notifications. As events are happening behind the scenes and not based on user action, you can get into these situations.
This inspired me to add file export and file import on Blockcore Notes. From the "People" section, you can now export to a JSON file on your local device, which can be imported later on. After import, you can choose to publish.
That probably did it
