even tho I'm a dev my primary reason for being on #nostr is to talk about politics, culture and books. I find severe lack of non tech community here 😩

Throw down a topic! What are you thinking about?

I found that tech topics here tend to find more audience.

Yeah, well I’m all for Politics. Idk what kind of politics you’re into. Does this question interest you? It’s one that has been on my mind recently.

“Do the ends justify the means, where the ends are the societies we have in global democracies, and the means are a state with power to enforce the will of the majority?”

Or maybe debt ceiling stuff… or how wonderful our great leader Biden is?

Yes. Anything centered around international relations particularly south Asian (India, Pakistan and Kashmir).

Have you seen Jack’s comments on the harassment they got from the Indian government?

How does freedom of speech in India compare to other countries?

Jack is being a hypocrite. Back in the time period of 2016-2019, when Jack was heading twitter he's complicit in suppression of Kashmiri voices. Every other day you could see Kashmiri pro freedom voices on Twitter being suspended. Even their data being provided to the government who later on harassed them.

Now, Jack is being a "liberal voice" and talking about freedom of speech and all. But when he'd the power he used it against the people. I think when it comes to CEOs of Meta, Twitter and likes - it's all about money and presence. They'd do whatever is convenient.

It seems like he’s now realized, after years at Twitter trying to balance his interest in profits and what is right, that profits doesn’t need to be to in the equation.

I’m guessing the think like this: my app is good for the world, therefore what is good for my app is good for the world, even if it’s a short term concession to political realities. Elon Musk is going through the same thing in Turkey 😔

Nostr rocks for this.

Reading Wikipedia..

Gave me the idea that a if militant group wants to make it clear that they are not being housed by a population they could document before, during and after their attack carefully, and then release it later. A hash of the documentation could be committed to the bitcoin blockchain at the time of the attack, if it weren’t immediately released, and if anyone retaliates against the locals it would be very powerful. The possibility of such a release could be a strong disincentive for retaliation against the locals.

People here shun politics a lot, but I'll still talk about it a bit. Made a big post about Ukraine and RFK just yesterday.

Also my favorite book ever is Anathem by Neal Stephenson.

I read mostly fiction - Murakami types.

Explore other people’s follows. I follow a lot of non-technical plebs.

I'm trying to find people who align to my non tech interests.
