Newest, but now I want to try oldest.

We do oldest first in damus ios so it reads chronologically… but i noticed twitter does newest first without even an oldest first option

Good to know. Thanks.🫂

Oldest to new.

Yes

in github, newest. in social, oldest.

Why?

newest in github because it gives you the current state of the project. oldest in social because it replays the natural, in context flow of conversations about a post.

i prefer a toggle switch that I can select oldest, newest, or most engaged with to be on top.

Where do you envision this toggle?

Between the content and the comments section, right hand side. Just a little dropdown, not a toggle so much, that says "NEWEST" "OLDEST" and "TOP" and you can select. The algo for the "Top" part would be tricky cause you're pulling from relays that respond at different times, rather than a centralized server though...

I also desperately want the ability to collapse comment threads like on oldschool reddit, to make it easier to see which comments are replying to which. I'll zap nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z a whopping 20,000 sats to implement this in #amethyst

Being able to choose between the two would be great. Same for notifications

Oldest.

Oldest

Yeah oldest.

Oldest first

Most-discussed. If we're not doing that, then oldest. I like newest if it's about a real time event like a football match ⚽

Oldest - Chronologically makes the most sense

Oldest notes first makes the most sense for conversation flow.

Oldest first if I find the thread early, newest first if I find the thread late

Overall, oldest first is better at rewarding active attention-payers, while newest first is better at leveling the playing field IF there's good spam filtering in place (big if)

I prefer the option to choose, and the option to add custom filters as well.

Newest / oldest / hot / top / OP (author of threat)

I sort by people you follow

Oldest first, with option to change.
