Both still have a right to due process. Even if you killed people in the US, you are innocent until proven guilty in court.

I'm against illegal immigration, tho. You should have to leave and apply for entrance from outside of the country, if you enter illegaly. Otherwise, everyone who enters legally is being played.
I also think that any minority group should be wary of being especially coddled and protected by the government, and held above the law, as that usually means you're going to get absolutely crushed by the opposition, when the government flips.
Turnabout is fair play, and all.
We should be striving for a small government with extremely limited powers, and everyone equal under the law. Otherwise, it's just tyrants taking turns. Biden/Trump are just two sides of the same megalomanic coin.
Same as Merkel/Merz are fighting over what to spend the money on, not whether to spend the money.
It’s difficult to give up power once you have it. At the beginning of the term you say I am going to use this power to do some good. At the end you say I haven’t finish what I was trying to do. Nobody has the time to give power away, they’re too busy using it.
Governments always get more tyrannical, until they collapse.
Each side loves it, until the opposition takes over again, and they get to find out that payback is a bitch. And then it reverts again. It's always the same.
It would be a breath of fresh air to see someone in power who doesn’t actually want it.

I don’t know exactly what that means. I think of the example of when the US constitution was drafted, the founders were weary of too much power being concentrated and they intentionally put in checks and balances.
It’s a healthy kind of weariness that we don’t talk about and value enough. It affords folks in the loop a chance to break out.

The few who DO know how to walk away from power, still create, participate, and further the very system that they must make a difficult decision to "walk away from" as you put it. These types of systems are what attract the types that DO NOT want to walk away. This is THE problem.

i don't know. i think they were destroyed in the past by more virulent forms of governance. mr. smith goes to washington? defining the machine? preferably one's with more separation of powers. flatter hierarchies. i'm still learning. i do not believe the myth of progress holds 100%.
