And
The latter might be a good option.
Would be interested to hear how you go as I’ve reformatted my old MacBook Pro, and installed Mint on it. So kind of relevant.

Thanks, I'll check them out and let you know.
I installed Mint on a an old 2009 Macbook Air about 9 years ago.
I'm now playing with an 2015 Lenovo NUC installed with Fedora.
Nice.
I did the Linux thing years ago… had servers in the house etc etc.. also had a Mac in the house for years, as previous partners had been designers. But it was when wifi and iPods started getting popular that I had my ‘fuck it’ moment, neither wifi or iPods wanted to play nice with Linux then, but my ex’s Mac kept whispering ‘Try me, try me’… seconds later everything just effing works 🤣. Been all in Apple ever since.
This laptop won’t run all the latest Proton apps etc, so I Mint’ed it to give it a new lease of life!
Hitting the hay here.. good luck with the clipboard. Thanks for the laughs!
I'm that old, I pre date Linux and used Unix on mainframes. I built data centres from 1989 to 2002.
It was fun but expensive, in 2001, a 45Mb/s full duplex fibre cost 15,000 GBP (about $20,000) per month 😱
Ah, we must be fairly similar era’s then..
I started on Wang mainframes.. still remember the buzz when the first hard drives IBM PC jr in the offices.. a single 10mb hard drive, no floppies 🤣
Even wrote an email system for it around ‘87/88. Got to travel around all our offices in Europe and US setting up X.25 networks etc. Those were fun days.
How tech has changed, to think our iPhones have more power and storage than those data centres 🤣
Gladly admit I’m an old bastard!
X.25 now that's a blast from the past 😂
Not sure if you ever experienced Wang’s.. I wrote the email system in Procedure language. My first foray into programming. It was great, but slooooow. Once the company saw it, and got excited, I self taught COBOL, and that made a huge performance boost.
Alrighty, really going. G’night for now. Good luck with the clipboard.
No, sorry, I don't think I ever used it, but COBOL was my language of choice.
We had a Hungarian mainframe copied from a Bull Mitre MTM2 machine.
My father had imported Videoton loudspeakers from there, which became a huge success and so started a lifelong relationship with Hungary.
To this day, I can swear like a trooper in fluent Magyar 😂
This is a review of the loudspeakers the Dad imported, it mentions him by name, which is nostalgic for me as he died last year:
