Very important remember, don't insert your nsec (secret key) on every client, use extention like "nostore" testflight on safari, "nos2x or alby" on Chrome or only trustable native app.

But for apps, tho? Im not in the habit of using Mobile Safari for much of anything? I’d probably rather just steer clear of any other clients for fear of identity theft. There’s certainly more considerations here than a standard centralized platform for sure. Leaking a private key is a death knell - just ask #[6]

The simple answer is that we currently lack the necessary tools, such as a master key and multiple revocable temporary private keys, for just login. As we are still in the early stages, it's important to carefully consider whom you trust.

Personally, I only trust Amethyst, Damus and Snort with my keys and I do not use my keys anywhere else.

Question I always have with “other” clients are, what assures the integrity of my private key? I mean, I trusted Damus of course, because that’s where my #nostr #plebchain journey began. Daisy? Iris? What’s a Nostrian to do protecting my identity with other entities? Isn’t adding a priv key to a new app like opening a CEX account with my passphrase? Serious concerns… thoughts?

Verify, and then trust. Maybe.

You could use browser extensions like #[6] but all apps are in different stages of development and can have bugs so just keep that in mind.

So the long and short of it is, as I said, trust. Something we desperately have a lack of these days and for good reason. I’m definitely holding tight to my key until I’m able to derive temp keys that are revocable to try other clients. Early day pains!!!

By the way, #Nostrid is not only for Windows & Android. It also runs in Linux, MacOS and web/PWA. (It runs in iOS too but there are no binaries yet, you must build it yourself)
