Dethatched my yard today... 24 bags of crud. I swear my lawn was 75% moss. Took me and the entire family almost 8 hours to get done

Yep, can confirm it's a lot of work, especially if it's by hand. We do ours most years and usually get a few bags.

We actually had a power rake but there was so much moss everywhere I had to get it up or the seeds will have no chance.

I ran the power rake on the front yard twice and had to go back in by hand.

We hadn't done it for the 3 yrs we lived here and by the looks of it neither had previous owner for some time
