Are robot vacuums a scam or are some of them good?

Roborock ones are good, the high end ones. Most others, not so. Definitely not the iRobot ones.
And your floor should be fairly tidy, without a lot of loose stuff around.
Mostly a scam, unless they have entertainment value for you.
My buddy nostr:nprofile1qqspsjp3x4faxllye0vt45kkh33rwc2aw072ge8dktglgd2eqr85fasppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0gfgnr3 seems satisfied with his, but he doesn't have pets
Our old one used to just push the door shut and get stuck in the loo. New ones are pretty good using AI to recognise objects to avoid and not just move in random directions. Eufy seem too dog (I actually have iRobot).
*top dog
I had an older one. It was pretty lame. Not sure if they have gotten better.
Gets the job done

I've had one from blaupunkt for a year. Works great for dust. Have no cats or dogs but think you need a special model for those
We have one from HonySmart that we LOVE. Best investment ever it’s saved us so much time. Much cheaper compared to the other ones too (below $200 I think).
I want a robot mopping machine. Anyone tried one?
I got a shark. I'm happy with it, but you can't even leave a pencil or a lego on the floor. It will find it, and if you aren't there, it will get stuck and need your help.
I am always Shocked at how much stuff it picks up! Despite the floor looking clean and it ran 2 days prior. But.... it must never ever ever be able to find any doggy doo-doo. 😬😬
I have a dog. A lab. Couldn’t live w/o a robot vacuum. Running everyday. Worth every fed coin.
Same. I have an iRobot. It's not perfect, but cuts down on the dog hair. I made a video. There are some crumbs, but not much dog hair.
I went ahead and bought a cheap one.
If it sucks, I'll keep it 🥁
I have 2 labs and used a Shark robot for years until it finally burned out. I found it picked up a lot, but it also left a lot; so, I was *almost* always manually vacuuming afterward anyway. If I were to get another one, I'd make sure to take it apart regularly to clean the dog hair out of the wheel gears (which was a huge pain to get to) - because dog hair in the gears is what eventually burned out one of my wheel motors.
In short, I don't really miss it. It was okay while it lasted; but, I'm pretty sure that were I to commit to doing proper regular maintenance (especially with a couple of dogs), it would render it more trouble than it's worth.
