Hey there
How thick did you lay your chips?
And what time of year
I have wood chipped a ton of stuff around our farm I love them I don’t know why it never dawned on me to wood chip our asparagus I’ve have been using ground leaves this is our third spring with them
What a great idea as they naturally grow in wood lots

This is my first year using wood chips. So on their third year was the first application. The wood chips are probably 4 to 6 inches. I applied them in winter to early spring. So this one is successfully emerging from the wood chips but I haven’t yet experienced what harvesting is like. I believe I had heard of someone even running chickens over them lightly in the fall after the ferns have died back for nitrogen but I don’t have chickens yet so I don’t know if that really works.
