What a crock of shit. I’ve got 4, with a 5th on the way, and they don’t want for anything. We don’t make a ton of money, and the money we do have, we spend on experiences, food, music lessons and sport.

If you want kids, don’t let the money you don’t have stop you. You will figure out a way to make it work. It will require tradeoffs, sacrifice, and putting your needs aside, for the betterment of your family and the future of our shared world.

Kids aren’t cheap, but if you don’t buy into the bullshit, buy second hand, live small, and do activities that are free after an initial purchase at a swap meet, or second hand gear sale (ski touring, fishing, surfing, hiking, camping, guitar lessons, piano, etc.) then it’s manageable.

We need more kids, and you animals are the ones who should be having them. 🤙🫂💜

Exactly. I don’t know where they pull this crap from. Maybe tuition or baby sitting? 🤷‍♂️ healthcare?

What’s the point of these articles I wonder … to discourage people from having kids? Sus 🤨

I believe it is to discourage people from having kids. I’m not sure as to the “why” though 🤔

It’s not like all expenses come at once. You wouldn’t write an article “want to live? That’ll be 500k” to throw in housing, education, bills, travel in there. This stuff is all gradual over time and can be lowered depending on your lifestyle choices … but they throw it all in for sensational headlines I guess

Exactly. And it’s always written about a couple living in the most expensive city, in the downtown core, or leafy suburb, who wants to maintain the same lifestyle they had in their twenties.

That’s probably who it’s meant to discourage 🤣

😂😂 yeah, I guess so.

Because the fewer people there are, and the looser their ties to family and other meaningful community, the easier they are to control

That’s exactly what the darker/conspiratorial side of my brain thought too……sometimes I like to believe evil like this doesn’t exist…..

Before I had children, I asked my father his suggestion. I’m the oldest. With younger sibs.

His response was: when you’re older you have more money but less energy. When you’re younger you have energy but almost no money.

Me: Dad, that doesn’t help.

“ Have them young baby, and you will still be young when they are adults.”

I’m mid 40s and all my babies are thriving adults. Grateful I took his advice.

Beautiful. Unfortunately, I’m on the older side, as I met my wife in our late twenties, but running around after toddlers has kept me young! 😂

LMAO 🤣 TBF, my pops was 29 when I was born so he was an “older father” in the 80s in our neighborhood. 🫂 Kiddos do that.

The truth is, the people don't want the responsibility because they are frail and insecure.

Especially in Canada. Goes hand in hand with deep throating the State.

They don't want the opportunity to fail at keeping a level head, they don't want the opportunity to make REAL significant decisions, they don't want the opportunity to learn they can't sacrifice their lifestyle. They don't want to learn they are failures naturally.

Exactly - you get by & figure things out as they arise.

I wish I'd had more.
