a lot slower to prepare the magazines tho

Indeed. It may look cool, but unless you are in a stationary position. This is going to be heavy and cumbersome for reloads. I'd rather just slap my 50 round drum mag on my AR10 and call it a day.

See my response to mleku above.

well, if it's more reliable and it can do both then i'm all for it

you can put a lot of cover fire out with the same gear just for the price of a belt fed drum attachment

Most drums are less reliable than a good belt fed.

100-200 rounds is extremely fine for most cover fire contact break situations.

Also, several of the belt fed uppers will take standard magazines, so you just drop the belt pouch when it's empty and reload with regular mags until you can drop another belt in.

SAW gunners do this all the time, and, from what I've seen, some of these uppers are much more reliable than the M249 which is the crappy standard LMG in the US arsenal for the past few decades.

I've seen those things jam too often at the worst possible times.

The 249?

Yep

Yeah. They aren't very good. I've always hated them, then I had to fix them and it was even worse.

Cleaning them is a nightmare.

Yes.

I much prefer the heavier 240 in general. (As long as I don't have to lug it around. 🤣)

"I'll give you a thousand sats every time I need you to carry this for me"

Looks pretty cool.

Good Lord
