~ 50% of UTXOs are below 1000 sats.
Such a successful spam attack.

What means that?
At these prices the 1000 sat utxo is not likely to be a "real" utxo, but rather an utxo which was created for a non-monetary purpose, such as storing and transmitting arbitrary data.
That's apparently a usecase according to Core
Before making my first big transfer, I sent 2 tests of 10k sats each. I knew those would probably be non-spendable, but the big transfer was a big deal and I didn't want to lose anything.
Pretty good practice, Egg.
Good news though.. if they were regular transactions then they are spendable 😁.
They are regular transactions, but the fee to spend them would be bigger than the UTXO, I feel like. I don't fully understand how dust and UTXOs work yet.
yes, let's remove op_return and get this number even higher. Keep all the addresses in RAM as a souvenir for future generations. Maybe even Raspberry pi will consider expandable memory slots one day.
It was mentioned often in the past: We should not totally discount RAM while only charging for disk space.
Just like segwit gave a discount for prunable data on disk, bloating the utxo set should come at a premium and reducing the utxo set should warrant a discount.
A soft fork could limit the utxo set increase per block thus pushing miners to prefer consolitation transactions.
Robin Linus has a cool idea for a softfork that makes dust utxos have to proof they're in the utxo set in order to be spent, such that nodes can prune them.

At the cost of the little privacy that is left with BTC?
The point is to model the cost of a transaction according to the cost it imposes on the nodes as that makes it healthy. If you can make millions of UTXOs for free, then the incentives are not well aligned. If privacy has value, it should be just fair to pay for it, especially when it incurs a cost onto others.
Do you have recommended reading to understand what you just said?
Not sarcastic. I'm a maxi, and I have a background in technology so I'd like to learn more.
Have I not sent this reply before? Read https://delvingbitcoin.org/t/dust-expiry-clean-the-utxo-set-from-spam/1707 and stuff referenced in it.
This was my first time asking. It might've been somebody else. Thank you!
Did they pay the fee?
.. and yet here we still are .. blocks every 10 minutes on L1 .. fees at 1sat/vb .. and ⚡ processing increasingly large volumes of tx's and value
.. another round of "tuition fees" paid by jpeg enjoyers .. a few of whom will turn to bitcoin, and many whom will join the ranks of the salty and scammed
.. just like the ICO speculators, the "defi" yield-farming degens, etc etc .. every cycle has another round of scammers and grifters looking to enrich themselves at the expense of others
Indeed. Doesn't stop #bitcoin.
As for the lightning volume.. got any cool stats on that?
