I used to know this rich girl that had a sunken living room at her parents house.

We would hang out there and smoke weed and watch movies.

In my mind then and still now sunken living rooms are the highest form of wealth achievable by man lol 😂

Agreed, love them something so cosy and comfortable about it.

And 80s/90s waterbeds.

We all know what comes after one day..

💁‍♂️ today

Yessssss lol

I know you could design something elegant.

Highly underrated. Almost forgotten.

I heard they went away because kids kept falling into them.

Welcome to the 1970s.

Ive never seen, known, nor experienced a sunken living room

Shag carpet?

Many sunken LR’s have been filled in…prayers…

Just boomer things

Shit, I just paid $4k to fill ours in

Noooooo

At least I have a few pictures of it

it is true

I'll do you one better, the first floor of the house I grew up in was literally underground and the garage was BENEATH THAT! Pittsburgh hilly neighborhoods be wild.

It was always a furnished basement for us.

Well... It ain't difficult, dig the hole, lay the formwork, fill the form.

Draper had one on Mad Men.. not sure if that confirms or disproves your thesis tho lol
