Most people.

I guess I should say "most Westerners, particularly those under 60".

Someone from Argentina or Lebanon probably has experienced a recession.

Do you not consider 2008-2010 a bad recession?

Not really, no.

We thought it would be terribly bad, but they mostly papered over it with fresh money, mortgage refinancing and welfare payments.

The prepper scene really got going, then, and Bitcoin got started and we bought silver coins and planted potatoes...

and then nothing really happened.

There was no BOOM effect, just a slow slide into complacency and €7 döner kebap.

I've still got my silver coins, dried beans, and toilet paper.

I was deployed for most of the worst of that time... So I don't really know how it was for people back in the US. But I heave heard many people talk about how awful that time was... 🤷‍♂️

Probably depended upon the state.

Probably.

Depends where you live and how you define recession, especially within war zones and countries experiencing famine, etc. Lots of young living in those conditions - arguably far worse than a bad recession.

Yes, but recessions often preceed or trail such situations.

And I'm saying that recessions in themselves, used to be devastating. People feared them.

Here in Greece many people know that very well i assure you...
