Testing the connection to my Start9 Embassy’s relay…
Discussion
Which client do you use?
Hello.
This is Damus on my iPad with orbot running. Seems to be all good. More clients need to support ws links tho!
Orbot for ipad??
Yup!
Wtf had no idea it was available for iOS. 👍👍
So your start9 which has onion services and is accessible remotely through TOR.
Is the start9 relay transmitting to other relays over clearnet and Tor is strictly your device connection back to start9 device? Or is the relay transmitting over Tor as well?
Sup
Results?
Im beginning to research for my first real node. I’ve built an umbrella in the past, but it struggles with too much downtime so I want to get a pre-fabricated professional node. Start nine embassies near the top of my list, how do you like it so far?
Honestly it's been pretty good, haven't had any downtime. I hear there's a pretty big update on the horizon too, so I'm crossing my fingers for alternative ways to connect besides tor
Excellent. Would you recommend another product? Nodl? Ronin? Other?
Haven't tried Nodl. Dojo is good for on chain, but doesn't have anything lightning related. Pretty focused product for one purpose - not ideal if you want a variety of things.
Umbrel of course has a ton of stuff but I'm basically migrating my serious stuff to embassy now that i have a deeper understanding of what they're trying to achieve.
Nodl is open source stat9 is not.
You can also use the LAN config if you go into interfaces and use the LAN property but swap out https with wss
Obviously can only use on your home network that way but while home way faster than tor and don’t need Orbot
did you connect your Umbrell relay?
