Where's it coming from that Apple is communist? They're not redistributing wealth amongst the people, or even claiming to do so. They're a greedy corporation that's blocking zaps because, as nostr is currently set up, Apple can't collect a percentage of those transactions. That's literally all. What's communistic about an independent company trying to make maximum profits? 😂

They are monopolistic. I've always avoided them because of it.

Exactly. They don't play nice with other companies for exactly this reason. They have all their own hardware so they don't have to pay someone else to do it. They have all their own factories so they don't have to pay anyone else. They don't allow 3rd-party apps that they don't 100% approve of. They consistently have huge fights, like this one, with apps over the unreasonable % they take out of in-app purchases. They choke out competition to make a buck

I can’t see the notes you’re responding to, but the Chinese Communist government banned Damus from the Chinese App Store shortly after it was released. That’s possibly the reason for the comparison. I agree with your analysis, though: Apple is concerned about getting its cut from iOS apps. Fortunately, those of us who aren’t stuck under communism have other choices for connecting to Nostr.

Ahhhh, maybe I can see why then. But yes, we're safe so long as we don't live under totalitarian regimes 😅
