Now who sounds like a scammer?
Self custody lightning isn't scalable to even a 1 billion people. We know that now even if many don't want to admit it.
It doesn't mean that lightning is not useful for scaling Bitcoin. It doesn't mean that lightning is a scam. That's as intellectually dishonest as saying 3rd party custodial solutions aren't required.
Scaling Bitcoin to 8 billion people will require tradeoffs at the individual level. I'd rather push the trade offs to the edge of the network (to the individual) rather than implement them at the base layer.
There are no risk free changes to the base layer.
I agree with you.
I think the miners are a good custodian because they are permissionless, federated, annonymous, sybill resistant, and incentive aligned with Bitcoin.
I can't imagine a better possible custodian, can you?
Drivechains are just a way to let whoever wants to, custody their Bitcoin with the miners.
