Related: I've been doing a lot of reading on the Orthodox/patristic view of the atonement and how penal substitutionary atonement are irreconcilable. Its amazing how absurd the latter view really is.

I've watched a few videos on it, and you're right, PSA is absurd. In fact, I think it's one of the main things that turns people away from Christianity. It's an oversimplification of a theologically complex issue.
What do you find most absurd about it? How it breaks the Trinity?
Yea, 100%.. It's a subversion of the Gospel.
