I would seriously recommend not running BTC stuff on the same computer that your doing other stuff with.

Opens up way to much attack surface.

I definitely need a more dedicated machine for a plain bitcoin core node.

I got an old dell for ~80$ a few months ago (not including the cost for a ssd)

Its running tor, i2p, core, lnd, mempool, fulcrum, lnconnect, thunderhub, and ligress so far with zero issue. (Well ligress is my current project not 100% up yet)

8gb ram with an i7 did the ibd in ~15 hours

a nuc?

Nuc?

Those "mini-pc" form factors are called NUCs

Oh lol dident know that. Atx I think. Its not a full tower but deff not a mini pc.

Ebay?

Yessir. I think its mostly corps liquidating old PCs. Either way its still cheaper and more powerfull than a ras pi.

Yes, i bought my pi in simpler times 🤣

Biiiig same lol.

You can run Bitcoin alone on one server and everything else on another server. It's all a la carte

+1

It's less about Bitcoin/non-Bitcoin and more about not putting all your critical data on one server. Best to divide it up amongst multiple servers and reserve one for experimentation with new services.
