They are intertwined though. like dont take my name in vain is in a pair with dont steal since stealing involves a lie as an israelite ie in his name. His name is relevant because first you have to hold no god before him which is paired with no graven images.

Its worth reading about is all im saying. just a suggestion. not tryna offend. I read it and found it interesting. Thomas Acquinas has interesting things to say. It got discussed at Nicean Conference in early 4th century when rome was christianizing. All sorts of cool stuff.

Thought y'all might enjoy as Christians. It's stuff written by saints and bishops and disciples.

Its a tangle Dread Jah Know

I agree, they are intertwined. For those with a 'private property' bent, all of the 10 commandments deal with property: worship is due to God alone, it is *his*, do not give it to another; the Lord's day is *his* do not give it to another; your neighbor's wife is *his* do not 'take' her for yourself; do not steal what belongs to your neighbor--don't even covet it (this is to doubt God's goodness toward you), etc.

Pretty much. John; 1

Is the key. In the beginning there was the Word.

I am glad you know your book bro. I spend waaay too much time explaining scripture to Christians. U are breath of fresh air since I really should not teach the Word. Non levite with Tongue like a fire and all that. Plus am not a Christian so Rilly not my place but ... Man.

Why dont people study their own faith writings? There is so much wisdom in the Abrahamic tradition just waiting to be sought out. Pity rilly

That's a long, and rather sad, story. Phases of Marxism and Modernism over the past 100 years has taken a toll. Acts 20:17-38 lived out (wolves within, wolves without). The backlash against the modernist seminaries has bred widespread anti-intellectualism and anti-formalism. I was almost angry when I discovered the rich heritage of creeds, confessions, and catechisms in the Protestant/Reformed tradition--as you said, such a rich heritage, but also *answers* long fought for, clearly stated.

The church (always) needs men "who know the times" and are deeply rooted in Scripture, the "faith once delivered."

I appreciate your kind words. 🤙🏼

Nicean conference did not help set a good tone at the front end. Burnt gnostics before that. Rebuilding of temple and with Zoroastrian oversight. And then the soma induced rewrite of the law. But somehow the word survives by the diligence of the scribes and holymen. The unfathomable centrality of the truths they struggle with may leave them limping, but the words must be preserved for all our sakes.

I hope u don't mind a non Christian perspective. I truly wish there were more people of faith around. The wheel is turning though. The pews are about to fill up again.

I definitely have a private property bent but most of those things mentioned are not property.

Private property is supported by do not steal or covet, but stretching the concept to the others doesn’t make sense.

1. The place of Divine supremacy belongs to God alone.

2. Worship belongs to God alone.

3. God's name belongs to God alone, do not marshall it for other purposes.

4. The Sabbath belongs to God.

5. Honor is due to parents--it belongs to them, do not withold it.

6. Your neighbor's life is *his*, not yours, don't take it.

7. Your neighbor's wife is *his*, not yours, don't take her.

8. Your neighbor's stuff is *his*, not yours, don't take it.

9. Your neighbor's good name is *his*, don't impugn it falsely.

10. Your neighbor's speedboat isn't *yours*, don't make an idol of it.

The Law here is simply perfect justice--render to each one what is due to him, do not withhold it, neither take it away.
