It's neat that China extracted concessions from Macron, and their response to Macron on Russia was basically "go fuck yourself". Macron said he is committed to deepening economic and military ties with the Chinese Communist Party. He also promised France will be neutral if China invades Taiwan.

It's pretty disturbing that he seems comfortable with the Sino-French relationship being a one-way street. Which is wildly out-of-step with the opinion of the average European.

I met a Chinese woman living in Japan yesterday, who was placed under house arrest for three months for what she wrote on WeChat. And now I'm reading about how Macron is promising to make France closer to China and more distant from the US.
I actually think European strategic autonomy is a good thing -- I don't think the EU should be an American security vassal. But damn.
Also, the way he talks about American decoupling from China is an opportunity for Europe to deepen economic integration with China is fucking nuts.
There is nothing France or any European power can do in f China invaded Taiwan.
The best they can do is sanction China and hurt themselves.
