Exactly. Nostr doesn’t even allow me to block these kinds of people.

💯 nostr in its current form makes this problem even worse than on centralised platforms. unfortunately most devs don't care.

The "safe space" mindset is trash and only leads to censorship and discord. The solution against harassment and incivility is not to put the burden of guessing what hurts your feelings on devs or relay owners, but to demand that they give each individual user the tools to do the work by themselves.

As I said in my other comment, muting seems insufficient, so I think it's legitimate to ask them to give users the ability to effectively block other users from following them or seeing their content. That's where it stops.

But we do have mute/block on (all?) clients, no? 🤔

Mute, yes. Block only by choosing our relays better.

Maybe I don't really know the difference. What is a block doing that a mute isn't?

I haven't found a need for it, myself.

Unhinged post stalkers quickly get banned by my followers. Web of Trust working as intended...

I see I see

and there are also clients that have "private mutes"

In Damus I can mute people in my replies. Dunno if the mute list is just saved locally though.

Muting is a good first step but it doesn’t really prevent harassment. People can still comment and everyone who follows you sees those comments unless they mute that person too, which is doable but not a great default experience. Maybe web of trust solves some of this.

I guess a nip could be created to attach a block-list of npubs to one’s own account. Nostr clients would have to adopt the standard and not display the block-list of the original note author. This would give everyone the choice if they want to display blocked comments or not. As a user I personally don’t want to see spam replies in most cases and am grateful if a note author is maintaining a spam-filter for their replies. If I’m curious anyway to see a particular blocked reply anyway, I could always opt-in to see it.

You can mute people so you stop seeing their shit, but you cannot block them so they stop seeing yours. I think blocking is a necessary feature that makes censorship unnecessary to a very large extent.

Agreed nostr:note10fjfq0xrhrkqfkn3murx9nuqknwl78q5yul07j5kjg27083mshasdk5qrc

You can mute npubs in most clients
