Shitting on patriarchy is not support for matriarchy. Any society "lead" by half the population while the other half is suppressed is by definition horrible.

still on your mind from yesterday? ^^
well, it's also unfair to assert that just because patriarchy suppresses more than half of the population, that matriarchy would be the same or similar.
you mentioned the kind nature of bonobo apes yesterday in one of your responses. bonobo society is matriarchal—very peaceful and cooperative. we could learn a lot.
it doesn't follow that just because it's matriarchal, that the society would automatically disparage men. most women love their men and don't seek to dominate them, but love and cooperate with them.
many man-hating feminists are proponents of a matriarchy because they believe that it *would* be the inverse of a patriarchy. but many of these women have been hurt by men—by the patriarchy, and have let it make them toxic.
i think a matriarchy would be much more egalitarian than what we have now. at least, i'm certain that there wouldn't be political leaders raping underage girls on private islands for blackmail operations, or women and babies being blown up or starved for weapons manufacturer profits and warlord bloodlust.
anyway, just adding my thoughts to the matter since i have more time than yesterday. like i said, we don't have to agree. but i really love your notes and your takes—they usually get me thinking :3
O I get what you are saying!
In my mind patriarchy = a world where men make most of the decisions. and matriarchy = a world where women make most of the decisions.
I don't want the men in my life to be pushed out of decision making. That's not fair to them. And the men I know aren't the ones abusing girls, etc.
I think what we need to get rid of is our worship of hierarchies. That tends to go hand in hand with patriarchy and I think it enables a lot of the abuse and war.
thank you for the kind response~! ^^
i think many women are similar to you as in they don't want to diminish the men in their lives, which is why i don't think a matriarchal society would be anything similar to a patriarchy.
i'm curious about your view on hierarchy. would the concept be eliminated altogether? or just not a pronounced focus as we have now??
A made a whole meme to describe my thoughts on hierarchy!
Now we tend to think of the world as one giant hierarchy, which is damaging and wildly inaccurate. We do have some hierarchies and I think we would do better if we made those structures smaller... as in more smaller hierarchies rather than a few big ones. And also the concept isn't that accurate. When you zoom out a bit you can see that it's more of a mesh network of hierarchies. Someone who is at the 'top' of one, is at the 'bottom' of another.
We think of the world like this...

When actually it is like this...

this makes perfect sense to me~!
i love it~!
ugh, still can't zap you, Hannah :(
thanks for sharing your thoughts, though :3
