Yahhh it’s that back of the throat burn I miss the most for some reason

(craving that never really goes away 😞 it just lessens down to almost nothing eventually)

Ugh it sucks hard. I feel like I’m gonna die without a little hit here and there

first step is changing your identity

think of yourself as someone who used to smoke nicotine

Yeah I like this idea. Like I read about visualizing life as a nonsmoker

identity - outcome - goal

those are the different levels you can think of. changing the identity is the best way to go

create and follow a system to quit nicotine, and the goal will fulfil itself

the tricky part is wanting to quit more than wanting it. the lizard brain is clever and can think things like “just this once won’t kill you”

Yeah I need help with my 🦎🧠

Can't recommend Allen Carr's audiobook Easy Way to Quit Smoking. I still smoke, but have used it multiple times to quit for years at a time lol full disclosure. It's easy to start again is the problem. Now I smoke cigars

Can't recommend it *enough*

Fuck.

I just downloaded it. This is a good idea for when I have to drive because my cravings are so much worse, I will just throw it on🤙

a tiny tiny amount of those terrible horrible nicotine lozenges do help a little to get over the first 10 day hump. exercise and lots of movement is probably better to help with the nerves. I remember it taking at least over a week to reset the habit of reaching for it. the beginning is the hardest part

Yeah I need to like make a schedule or something so that I’m moving around and busy. Am also eating a ridiculous amount, which is a silver lining

There's a technique used in hypnotherapy smoking cessation treatment: create new assosications to smoking and aspects of it.

One could possibly work for this is instead of the old association of enjoying the cigarette as you feel the burn in your throat, associate with black smoke coming out of a muffler of an old car.

I don't know if this could work just for you to imagine it (instead of being under hypnosis) but you can try. Every time you miss that feeling, start to picture the above image.

Other things you can do is to chew on things and maybe eat other sugary stuff. The sugar content in the cigarettes is a big component of why it's addictive, along with the nicotine.

This is great advice 🥹🌈
