Buying a whole cow makes you become adept at cooking stuff you never have before. Lessons for roasting a rump roast learned tonight; 1) put more liquid (beef broth) in roasting pan 2) slice roast thin 3) cook to 130, not 135 4) maybe try roast temp below 350 for longer. #foodstr

So true. I'm still amazed at how much food comes from a single cow. We use every part (except the tongue, sorry, I refuse to eat something that can taste me back).

Haha. Agreed on everything except the tongue. Some good, lengua tacos are the best. That is definitely something I gotta learn how to cook.

Raw liver replaces most of our vitamins and supplements. Marrow is the best burger toppong ever. It's no wonder the OT indicates a man's wealth or blessing by how many head of cattle he had... 😄

You aren’t joking. They made a golden calf for a reason 😂. If I’m at a restaurant and marrow is on the menu, it’s a snap order.

I never thought of it that way, actually--they were just *really* hungry! 😄

They just wanted some veal Parmesan!

Instant pot is your friend if you don't want to learn. Plop in any meat with some water and push the button. Super soft meat and then you've got a delicious broth

That is what I do what all of the other roast cuts, but rump roast felt like it needed to be roasted and sliced thin like roast beef. I actually used broth that we rendered from the soup bones in the roasting pan, and then covered the roast. Adds some delicious flavor.

Dang! Ok! I'll give it a try

Make sure to give it a nice rub and sear beforehand too.

💯 cow tongue is delicious

Any good recs on cooking methods? I’ve heard steamed or boiled is good.

love boiled
