Followed. (I agree with #[2], though.)

Honestly, I don’t understand the animosity between the two communities. Both are well-intentioned and their respective assets provide utility. Both have devs working diligently to make improvements and adapt to changing conditions.

And, let’s face it, little ol’ #monero #xmr isn’t a threat to #bitcoin (name recognition, market cap, adoption, etc.) Monero flies under the radar, which I think is one of its most redeeming qualities.

Obviously Monero is not a threat. The animosity stems from the tendency of XMR bagholders to jump in every Bitcoin conversation and shill Monero, which is exactly what all the other shitcoin bagholders do. Technology-wise, XMR is an interesting toy. Global reserve currency and replacing the fiat monetary system, however, is a task best left to the adults in the room.

Monero is one of the very few shitcoins that I like, but I still recognize that it's a shitcoin. If any Monero features turn out to be a necessity for Bitcoin's success, we will shamelessly rip them off so fast it will make heads spin. Today, there is no clear evidence that they are a necessity. The beauty of programmable money...

One person’s shill is another person’s advocacy and I think both sides are “guilty” of high jacking threads. But I occasionally like stoking debate because I want to hear constructive criticism of monero and/or bitcoin. What are the strengths? Weaknesses?

I like having my opinions and perceptions challenged. I hear that monero is a shitcoin, but why? What trait(s) give it that label? If it were shit, then why do I find it so useful. If bitcoin adopts some of the more useful attributes of Monero, I’d use bitcoin more often. I’m not wedded to one particular asset. That would be myopic.

sHiTCoiN lol

Define shitcoin. If it has actual utility that bitcoin does not possess, privacy and fungibility etc, it is not a shitcoin. Maxis are forbidden to say anything else can be better in different aspects than bitcoin. Seems like cognitive dissonance.

Unless bitcoin changes it's base layer, all it's privacy will come at a cost. They will be custodial or centralizing solutions like fedimints and lightning that come with other problems.

I don't hate bitcoin, I have some and use it. Different trade-offs, different tools.
